17 July 2027 · Fundación Instituto San José · Madrid, Spain
(8 hours accredited by the Watsupath™ Training Institute and the International Aquatic Bodywork Association W.A.B.A. for the Watsu® professional pathway)
PRESENTATION
Completing a training programme means acquiring knowledge, developing skills and beginning to build a professional identity. But the transition from student to professional requires something more: integrating what has been learned, developing one’s own professional judgement, gaining confidence and learning to bring acquired competencies into real practice situations.
From Student to Professional provides a space for practice and supervision to support precisely this transition.
The day will be highly experiential and practice-oriented. The aim is for each participant to put their competencies into practice, observe their own way of working and receive direct feedback, within a supportive learning and supervision environment.
Technique is an essential part of professional practice, but it is not the only one. Attitude, presence, observation, communication and decision-making are also part of the competencies required to develop safe, coherent and professional practice.
The day will therefore include individual and group supervision, competency demonstrations and guided practice, together with opportunities for reflection on one’s own practice and on the aspects each participant wishes to continue developing.
We will also explore, from a practical and general perspective, aspects related to professional communication, presenting one’s own practice and its development, understanding these skills as a natural part of the transition from student to professional.
Ultimately, the Study Group is conceived as a space to practise, observe, receive feedback and recognise the next step within one’s own professional and educational pathway.
WHAT WILL YOU LEARN IN THIS STUDY GROUP?
By the end of the training, participants will be able to:
- Integrate the knowledge acquired during their training into practical situations.
- Observe and review their own practice.
- Recognise their strengths and areas for development.
- Develop greater confidence and professional judgement.
- Deepen their understanding of the attitude, presence and communication required in therapeutic accompaniment.
- Identify their supervision needs and their next steps within their training pathway.

CONTENT
In-person format: practice, supervision and competency demonstration.
The session will combine short presentations, practical exercises, demonstrations, guided practice, and opportunities for observation and feedback.
A central part of the day will be devoted to individual and group supervision and competency demonstrations, allowing each participant to put their skills into practice and receive direct guidance.
There will also be space to explore aspects of professional communication, the relationship with the person being accompanied, and the presentation and development of one’s own practice.
Preparatory content will be provided through the platform to support preparation for the session and make the most of the in-person work.
COMPETENCIES
Throughout this process of practice and supervision, participants will develop and integrate competencies related to technique, attitude, presence, communication and professional judgement.
The practical work will help participants recognise their strengths, identify areas requiring further development and orient their next steps within their own training pathway.
The supervision and competency demonstration spaces also provide an opportunity to prepare
for and consolidate the skills needed to continue progressing within the different W.A.B.A. training pathways.

- Respect for informed, ongoing and revocable consent.
