What is Craniosacral Therapy in Water™?
Craniosacral Therapy in Water™ is a clinical therapeutic approach delivered in an aquatic setting that integrates Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy, WATSU®, manual therapy, and Myofascial Induction Therapy®. It is designed to support the body’s natural capacity for self-regulation through attuned listening and the facilitation of the subtlest physiological rhythms. Water is not simply a backdrop—it is an active therapeutic medium that enhances perceptual awareness, supports tissue reorganization, and encourages self-regulatory processes.
This approach is grounded in an understanding of the craniosacral and fascial systems as continuous networks of both solid and fluid dynamics, and by drawing on the mechanical, thermal, and sensory qualities of water, it helps foster three-dimensional tissue reorganization, refine neuroception and interoception, and support the body’s overall homeostatic balance.
More than a collection of techniques or protocols, CST in Water™ is a relational therapeutic framework, where the therapist’s presence, the quality of touch, the aquatic environment, and the patient’s active participation come together to shape a process that is inherently unique and guided by the body’s innate intelligence.
The Value of the Retreat Format
Choosing a retreat format is not simply a logistical decision—it is both pedagogical and clinical. Over the course of these days:
- the student’s body learns alongside the mind
- intentional repetition refines palpation skills and perceptual listening
- the group functions as a regulatory field and reflective mirror
- the natural setting supports sustained attention and deeper awareness
- shared time allows space to integrate, question, explore uncertainty, and consolidate learning
Skills take root because they are experienced, received, practiced, and reflected upon within a single, continuous learning environment.
Craniosacral Therapy in Water™ (CST in Water™) cannot be learned through technique alone, it must be embodied. For this reason, Modules 1 and 2 are offered in a retreat format, within a thoughtfully chosen natural environment where time, space, and group dynamics create the conditions for learning that is deep, lasting, and readily transferable to clinical practice.
This format makes something essential possible: stepping away from the pace of everyday life, refining perception, sustaining uninterrupted processes, and integrating the work at a level that goes beyond conceptual understanding.

MODULE 1: CLINICAL FOUNDATIONS OF CST IN WATER™ (50 hours)
This module establishes the essential foundations for understanding and working with the Craniosacral and Fascial Systems in an aquatic environment. The focus is on developing reliable listening skills, precise palpation, and a clear therapeutic presence from day one.
Students learn to identify the craniosacral rhythmic impulse, interpret its patterns, and apply foundational techniques with clinical discernment, respect, and safety.
Core Topics:
- Craniosacral System
- Evidence-Based Practice
- Conscious Touch and Listening
- Fascia and Diaphragms
- Cranial Base and Lumbosacral Release
- Dural tube
- Still Point induction
- Introduction to Somato-Emotional Release®
- Clinical applications
- Cautions and contraindications
Prerequisites:
Healthcare professionals, health sciences students, or aquatic bodywork practitioners.
Completion of preparatory work and submission of the Code of Ethics and Conduct (required prior to the start of the program).
The course will be taught in Spanish, with English translation available upon prior request.
MODULE 2: INTEGRATION, THERAPEUTIC RELATIONSHIP, AND TREATMENT PLANNING (50 hours)
Module 2 deepens the understanding of the body as an interconnected whole, where structural, neurophysiological, and subtle dimensions coexist and continuously inform one another.
Here, technique is placed in service of the therapeutic relationship, supported by water as a regulating environment. Students learn to allow the body to guide the process while refining their global assessment skills and the inherent treatment plan.
Core Topics:
- Consciousness
- Cranial Membranous System
- Temporomandibular joint
- Non-verbal communication and Non-violent Communication
- Somato-Emotional Release®
- Multiple Hands
- Advanced clinical applications
This module also invites a process of therapist self-awareness, considered essential for holding complex therapeutic processes with presence, clarity, and appropriate boundaries.
Prerequisite:
Successful completion and integration of Module 1.
Preparatory work required prior to the start of the module.
The course will be taught in Spanish, with English translation available upon prior request.
