THERAPEUTIC ALLIANCE AND INFORMED APPROACH TO TRAUMA. SUPERSHRINKS™ PROJECT

8-hour intensive · 100% in water. An immersive aquatic workshop focused on presence, safety, and embodied therapeutic alliance. Through buoyancy, rhythm, and sustained contact, participants explore how the body regulates, adapts, and feels safe in water.
February 2026 | Madrid

Taught by Elisa Muñoz Blanco.

February 14, 2026, at Hospital Fundación San José, Madrid, Spain.

(8 hours accredited by the WatsupathTraining Institute https://watsupath.com and the Worldwide Aquatic Bodywork Association W.A.B.A. http://waba.pro for the Watsu® professional training path)

Bodywork in water profoundly transforms the way the body organizes, perceives, and responds. Floating, support, and the relationship with gravity modify muscle tone, breathing, internal rhythm, and the experience of contact.

In this context, the therapeutic alliance ceases to be an abstract idea and becomes a physical, observable, and dynamic experience, built through presence, contact, rhythm, and the way of accompanying.

This workshop offers a clear and rigorous experiential exploration of the therapeutic alliance applied to bodywork in water, understood as a key factor in safety, regulation, and support. Throughout the day, we will investigate how the aquatic environment influences the perception of safety and the body’s ability to let go, adapt, or protect itself, and how accompaniment can facilitate these processes without forcing or directing.

The focus of the course is strictly physical and experiential. It is not a course in psychotherapy or psychological intervention, but rather training aimed at refining the quality of physical accompaniment in water, offering clear and applicable criteria for working with sustained contact.

The proposal integrates current knowledge about the body, regulation, and relationships, translated into accessible language that is directly applicable to practice in the pool. The theory is not explained outside the body: it is experienced, contrasted, and integrated in the water through guided dynamics and supervised practice.

The workshop combines rigor, depth, and lightness, inviting participants to learn from direct experience, curiosity, and enjoyment, and to discover how, in many cases, less technique and more presence generate safer and more effective accompaniment.

Objectives of the workshop

At the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Understand how the physical properties of water influence muscle tone, breathing, and body organization.
  • Recognize observable body signals of safety, activation, and overload when working in water.
  • Develop a stable and regulated body presence during aquatic accompaniment.
  • Apply basic principles of contact, rhythm, and flotation that promote physical and relational safety.
  • Differentiate between accompanying from the body and directing, forcing, or overstimulating.
  • Integrate basic criteria of consent, boundaries, and professional ethics into WATSU® and CST in Watersessions.

Professional ethical framework

  • The workshop is developed in accordance with:
  • Principles of physical and relational safety in bodywork in water.
  • Respect for informed, ongoing, and revocable consent.
  • Clear boundaries between bodywork and other areas of intervention.
  • The Bioethical Charter for Bodywork in Water.
  • Good professional practices in contexts of prolonged contact.
